The Digital Communications program at Humber College is in its pilot year and is a clear example of innovation. Instead of following the status quo and trying to narrow its specialization to one field, it is adapting to the new technological changes in society by combining various different skills. Its students learn, not only how to write, but how to critically incorporate aesthetic aspects to enhance their writing.

 

Being in this program has given me the inspiration to come up with creative content. The program has constantly pushed me to get past my comfort zone and go beyond the limit that I unconsciously set for myself. Having deadlines on creative assignments has given me a taste of the real world and has also allowed me to develop creative abilities even under pressure.

 

The program has connected me with like-minded individuals, which has given me an endless source of inspiration. Being able to work with other talented individuals and gain feedback has allowed me to accept constructive criticism and use it to produce even better content. Teamwork is an important aspect in all workplaces, and this program has encouraged me to develop that ability through constant collaboration with other students in my program.

 

However, the most important thing that I have been able to take away from this program is being able to turn my ideas into meaningful projects and combine all of my passions into one. I have always had a deep interest in digital imaging, but did not have the resources to hone those skills.  Through Digital Communications, I have been able to do just that.
