Plan of Action

Completing a portfolio is not a task that can be completed within one night, or even one day. Thus, I have created an in-depth plan and timeline that I will follow in order to ensure that I complete my portfolio on time, to the best of my ability. My plan for each portion includes the following:

  1. A portfolio logo.

  • Since I do not plan to focus entirely on one type of skill (ie. Only photography), I plan to scrap the camera logo I made in class and create a new one that incorporates aspects from all of my various talents. This will include typography, photography, video editing, writing, and music. I plan to portray this by including small graphics representing each skill and blending them together in my logo.

  1. An introduction/ About me section

  • The “About Me” section of my portfolio has already been completed in a previous class. Although I do not have any work experience relevant to the industry I hope to get into, I think I may choose to also include my current workplace, McCafe, just to show that I do have experience in the service industry where I have been able to develop “people skills”. I did not initially include my future career aspirations, since I’m not completely sure which direction I am headed yet, but I will include that I am looking for a career in the digital media industry in relation to communications and design.

  1. Content/work multi-section

  • Multi-section

  • Since I do not want my portfolio to get too cluttered or complication, I plan to organize this section as just a simple header at the top.

  • Multi-platform item

  • For my multi-platform item, I plan to design a graphic (such as an autumn tree) where my viewer will be able to hover over certain parts of the tree (ie. A leaf, a hole in the trunk, leaf piles on the ground, etc) and they will enlarge or glow. Then, upon pressing it, it will take them to the corresponding page, greeted with a quick animation or video introducing that page.

  • Process artifact

  • For this portion, I plan to record a stop motion video, either using paper shapes or using a whiteboard, describing the ups and downs that I faced while designing my portfolio.

  • 3 or more written reviews

  • For this section, I plan to review a piece of artwork from Deviantart, a short film on Youtube, and a poem.

  • 2 new video components

  • I plan to include a short film on my portfolio that I filmed and edited in my Video/Audio class on the “Videography” portion of my portfolio. To fulfill the second video, I have created a visual portrait about myself in another class which I plan to include in my “About Me” section.

  • An image gallery

  • On my portfolio, I have already included a gallery for my photography page of many of my own photos, as well as a gallery on my “SHOWCASE” page with thumbnail previews for each page.

  1. Linkages

  • I have already incorporated many links to my social media accounts on my portfolio, such as to my Facebook Photography page, my Wordpress Blog, and my Instagram account.

  1. Progress blog

  • I also already have a “blog” section on my portfolio with all my blog artifacts that I have already completed.
